A Message from the Head of School

Dear MCS Families,

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Raising Sturdy Kids Parenting Retreat! We hope this event was a blessing to your family as you took the time to learn practical and essential ways to invest in and train-up your children. I'd like to highlight a couple more events we have coming up soon:

Coffee Chat: Our monthly Coffee Chat is coming up again this Friday, November 4th. Parents/guardians are invited to stop by the Elementary Conference Room after morning drop-off for a cup of coffee and to connect with school administrators.

As we enter into this month of Thanksgiving, we want to again let you know how thankful we are to the Lord for the partnership of our MCS families! "Now, our God, we give you thanks and praise your glorious name." - 1 Chronicles 29:13

In His service by grace,

Michael P. Egenreider, MS

Primary and Elementary News

Bible Memorization: All the classes have been working hard on learning James 1 and James 2 as part of their Bible Memorization this year.

Pumpkin Day: Many of our Primary classes enjoyed a hayride and Pumpkin Day this month. Mr. Eric took our students on hayrides around our campus as the students enjoyed the beautiful fall leaves. Then they hunted for pumpkins on the soccer field. It was such a fun time to explore God's creation through science.

Glitz Bible Study: The 4th-grade girls have started a Bible study called Glitz after school twice a month led by one of our senior girls, Jenna Habegger. The girls are learning to study God's word and how they can be excited to follow Christ.

November 2nd: Kindergarten Knights and Princess Day

November 4th: Sip and Serve Parent Volunteer Meeting - Email Mrs. Leandra Couasnon for more info.

Middle School News

New Building: The MS has been in the new building for one month and it's been wonderful! We love our new space with its multipurpose room, large classrooms, touchscreen panels, and lockers. It has been such a blessing to us!

Fall Fest: On October 15th, the MS had a great time at Fall Fest. The building was open for tours and students enjoyed hayrides, a bonfire with hotdogs and marshmallows, games, and a pumpkin scavenger hunt!

November 4th: Pizza Lunch - Order form was emailed on 10/31.

November 14th: 8th Grade Parent Meeting - Join us at 7:00 p.m. in the MCC Fireside Room for more information about the 2023 D.C. Trip.

High School News

Annual Senior Breakfast: Seniors and their parents enjoyed a catered breakfast while Mr. Allen spoke to them about life's most important questions as they look forward to graduation.

November 11th: The Shindig! - The 10th-grade student leadership has been planning a boot-scootin' good time for our HS students with dancing, light refreshments, games, and more. The Shindig will be western-themed, so put on your best western attire, so your grade can win the spirit stick to kick off the year! See the email from Mrs. Coyan for more information and to purchase your ticket by November 4th.

November 14th: Junior Parent Meeting - Join us at 6:30 p.m. in the MCC Fireside Room for more information about the 2023 Arizona Trip.

End of Course Testing Retakes for students in Grades 9-11 will be administered November 28th - December 2nd. All tests will be given during the school day. Detailed information and test prep suggestions (if applicable) will be emailed to families of students needing to retake one or more tests based on Spring Administration scores.

Midterm Exams for HS Courses: Midterm exams for students in Grades 9-12 and 8th-graders enrolled in Algebra I will be December 19th-20th. Midterm schedules and more information will be provided to students and families.

Class of 2024 Meetings: Individual meetings for the Class of 2024 will begin in November. Senior year scheduling and college/career planning will take place during study hall or lunchtime. Parents are also welcome to schedule a meeting.

Class of 2024 Save the Date: Based on parent feedback, an 11th-grade parent meeting is planned for February 6th. This meeting will feature college/career/military planning information.

College Visits: Seniors have up to 5 excused absences for in-person college visits. This number also includes needed travel days. Juniors may have 2 days for excused college visits. Please bring a business card from the college to the HS office upon return as a visit verification.

Service Hours: It's never too early to begin serving others! Yearly service hour requirements are Grades 7-9: 10 hours, Grade 10: 20 hours, Grade 11: 30 hours, and Grade 12: 40 hours. Hours should be logged using documentation sheets located in the hallway across from the HS office. It is encouraged your child turns in service logs to their Bible teacher at the end of each 9-week grading period. This enables their progress toward the yearly requirement to be viewed on each report card throughout the year! Please refer to the MCS Parent/Student Handbook for more details.

FAFSA 2023: Application window for the 2023-24 school year opened on October 1. Visit studentaid.gov to learn more.

ACT/SAT: Students interested in taking these tests should visit ACT.org or SAT.org for test dates, registration, and practice opportunities.

College/University Application Window: Colleges and universities began accepting applications for the 2023-24 school year on August 1. Seniors should keep a spreadsheet of application requirements for each school. Please see Mrs. Ladd if you have any questions about the application process.
