Primary and Elementary News

December was an exciting month for our Primary and Elementary students with the below activities:

Christmas Concert: Our K-4 students were Bright Stars in the music program. They worked so hard all year on learning their songs, memorizing scripture, and learning how to do a performance. The 5th grade students had their first performance as a whole choir and band. They have also worked so hard on learning to read music, notes, and playing their new instruments.

Christmas Gift Shop: Our Preschool-5th grade students were able to participate in our Christmas Gift Shop. This was an opportunity for students to shop for Christmas gifts for their loved ones! We couldn't have had this great success without the amazing parent volunteers who helped us out. A special thanks to Tabitha Carpenter and Heather Barnes for organizing the gift shop for us this year! All the proceeds benefit the Madison Christian Church food basket ministry.

Special Visitor: Our students had a special visitor... THE GRINCH! The Groveport Police Department counted on our MCS students to help them ensure the Grinch did not steal Christmas. This visit was full of laughter, fun, and community engagement.

Fireside Readers: Students were able to enjoy a special story time with our Fireside Readers. Our guest readers were able to read various classic Christmas stories to our students while sitting around our Christmas tree and fireplace.

Middle School News

Our MS students are staying busy! During the winter, you can find our students participating in basketball, cheerleading, and rehearsals for our upcoming school musical, "Meet Me in St. Louis". We'd love to have you join us for these events!

Science: Our students are preparing for their Science Fair later this spring. Before break, Mrs. Lawrence's 6th Grade Science classes all dissected frogs as part of their vertebrate unit in Biology! They were amazing scientists and learned a bunch as they explored.

Kenya Cards: Mrs. Lawrence took a mission trip to Kenya in December. Before she left, her 6th grade classes made cards for her to deliver to the children.

January 20th: MS Pack the Nest - Come support our MS Boys and Girls Basketball teams who are playing at home!

High School News

Seniors: Remember to submit your senior photos to the HS Office. Look for your Senior Bio form coming soon!

February 10th: NHS Induction Ceremony - New NHS members will be inducted in a special ceremony. Inductees and their families are invited to save this date and look for more details as the date approaches.

Athletics

Eagles for a Cause was begun a few years ago for the purpose of supporting an organization or a cause through our athletic programs allowing our student-athletes to have a positive impact on our community. Athletic teams choose a cause to be highlighted and supported at one of the contests during their respective seasons. A portion of the proceeds from concessions and the t-shirt sales are donated to the organization.

Varsity Girls Basketball Lady Eagles for a Cause: January 31st at 6:00 p.m. - Support the Lady Eagles as they raise awareness for autism and support Bridgeway Academy, a non-profit education center in Columbus serving children with autism and developmental disabilities.

  • To support, attend the game and/or purchase a 2023 Lady Eagles for a Cause t-shirt on the MCS School Store by January 22nd. Orders will be available for pick-up on January 30th or at the door prior to the game.
MCYAL Futsal Registration: Registration for MCYAL Futsal (Indoor Soccer) for K-6th grades is open until January 13th. Click for more information and to register.

New MCS Spiritwear: With the launch of the updated school logos, there is now new MCS Spiritwear available on the MCS School Store featuring the new logos. Please remember that these items may be worn on MCS Spirit Days (Fridays) only.

  • The deadline to order Spiritwear apparel is January 26th. Delivery is expected the week of February 6th.

Spiritual Formation

Spiritual Formation

The central theme in January Primary and Elementary Chapels is growing in knowing God. Our students may never know all there is to know about God, but there are many ways we can get to know God. The central theme for our MS and HS Chapels is wisdom. In Proverbs, students will discover the wisdom that can make us better at everything. Learn more in this month's Spiritual Formation Newsletter.
