APRIL 2024

Primary/Elementary:
In March chapels, the Primary and Elementary School learned about PEACE. Their memory verse was Romans 12:18: “If possible, live in peace with everyone. Do that as much as you can.” They learned that when Jesus died on the cross, He made peace between God and us. We can have peace—and we can share the peace of God with others. We can reflect the character of Jesus by caring enough to make peace.

In April, they will be learning about PATIENCE with the memory verse of Psalm 27:14: “Wait for the Lord. Be strong and don’t lose hope. Wait for the Lord.”

Middle/High School:
In March chapels, the Middle and High School went through a series focusing on what Jesus said and did to show us real love with the memory verse of 1 John 4:10: "This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins."

In April, they will go through a series about God's heart for justice. Their memory verse is 1 Corinthians 12:27: "All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it."

Tenebrae:
To prepare our hearts for Easter, MCS has been participating in Tenebrae, one of the oldest Christian traditions for commemorating the crucifixion of Christ. Typically, the Tenebrae (Service of Shadows) was one extended worship service, but we spread out the scripture reading and extinguishing of one more candle (7 total) each day leading up to our Easter Chapel. As lights were extinguished, we pondered the depth of Christ's suffering and death.
If you have not already downloaded the Parent Cue app, it is a great resource to be engaged with what your children are learning in chapel and has great conversation starters specific to their age.
