MCS celebrates 22nd Annual Senior High Commencement

On Saturday, May 28th, Madison Christian School celebrated the Class of 2022 during the 22nd Annual Senior High Commencement Ceremony. Surrounded by family, friends, and the MCS Community, 29 graduating seniors were honored for completing the milestone of graduating high school.

To start the event, Rev. Paul Barnes, Madison Christian Church Lead Minister, gave the Opening Prayer followed by a Welcome from Head of School Michael Egenreider. The High School Choir performed “The Blessing” under the direction of Luann Hodges. 

Principal Kim Miller announced the recipients of the Academic and MCS Character Awards:

Valedictorian: Megan Ladd

Salutatorian: Eliana Shellhaas

Boldness and Faith Award: Kyah Crabtree

Faithful Servant Award: Megan Ladd

Fruit of the Spirit Award: Megan Ladd

Godly Wisdom Award: Eliana Shellhaas

State of Ohio Honors Diploma: Gianmarco Aguado, Chloe Carpenter, Kyah Crabtree, Logan Groves, Amber Hough, Megan Ladd, Presley McCoy, Megan Mitchell, Carson Phillips, Paris Raymore, Arturo Schottenstein, Eliana Shellhaas, Harley Tipton, David Tongor Jr., Madison Tufts, Matthew Whaley 

Upper School Teachers Ryan Pettit and Rebecca Nelson gave the Commencement Address. They encouraged the graduates to stay strong in their faith and walk as Christians as they navigate new freedoms in a world that is increasingly hostile to the influence of Christianity. 

Dean of Students Philip Slonaker and History Department Chair Timothy Allen read the names and biographies of the graduating seniors while Principal Kim Miller presented them with their diplomas. The Class of 2022 then presented flowers to their families as a thank you for their support in helping them reach this milestone.  

A new award this year, Head of School Michael Egenreider presented the Legacy Award to students who have attended MCS since kindergarten and their families.

Rev. Paul Barnes gave a Closing Prayer before the Class of 2022 was officially presented as graduated. Congratulations Class of 2022!
