MCS celebrates 26th Annual Senior High Commencement

Surrounded by family, friends, and the MCS Community, 22 graduating seniors were honored for completing the milestone of graduating high school.

To start the event, Head of School Dr. Tim Houston gave the Opening Prayer followed by a Welcome from Dean of Academics Mrs. Kim Miller. The High School Chamber Singers performed “A Closing Prayer” under the direction of Mrs. Sara Sladoje. 

Dr. Tim Houston shared a Reflection before Mrs. Kim Miller recognized the long-term partnership of several graduating seniors and their families by presenting the Longevity Recognitions and Legacy Awards:

  • Longevity Recognition (attended MCS from Primary School through 12th grade): Kerrie C., Kailyn T.
  • Legacy Award (attended MCS from Kindergarten through 12th grade): Peyton D., Lillian F., MaKenzye H., Lena L., Hayley P., AJ S., Caitlyn T., Michael U.

High School Principal Mr. Joshua Harris then presented the Character and Academic Awards:

  • State of Ohio Honors Diploma: Faith A., Denzel C., Peter F., MaKenzye H., Lena L., Hayley P., Caitlyn T.
  • Godly Wisdom Award: Peter F.
  • Faithful Servant Award: Lena L.
  • Boldness and Faith Award: Jeanelle G.
  • Fruit of the Spirit Award: Jasmine H.
  • Salutatorian: Lena L.
  • Valedictorian: Peter F.

Pastor David Appelt, Lead Pastor of Maranatha Community Church in Canal Winchester and 2012 MCS Graduate gave the Commencement Address.

Guidance Counselor Mrs. Jen Ladd and Academic Dean of History Mr. Phil Slonaker read the names and the virtue selected by their peers of the graduating seniors, while Mr. Joshua Harris and Mrs. Kim Miller presented them with their diplomas:

The congregation sang "Great is Thy Faithfulness" together before the Class of 2026 presented flowers to their families as a thank you for their support in helping them reach this milestone. Dr. Tim Houston gave a Closing Prayer before the Class of 2026 was officially presented as graduated. Congratulations Class of 2026!
