MIDDLE SCHOOL
6th Grade Band will focus on introducing students to their instruments. Training will focus on posture, breathing, hand positions, embouchure and instrument care. Additional emphasis will be placed on the development of tone and rhythm to help students develop a solid music foundation.
7th and 8th Grade Band will focus on furthering knowledge on an instrument. Continued reinforcement of posture, breathing, hand positions, embouchure and instrument care will be stressed. This course will focus on furthering knowledge on an instrument, and an emphasis is placed on scales, tone quality, and more advanced musical skills.

HIGH SCHOOL
High School Band will continue to build on the musical foundation that was laid in the middle school. While emphasizing fundamentals of technique, tone, pitch, and rhythm, students will continue to develop as musicians and grow in their musical expression. Scripture calls us to use instrumental music as a way to express gratitude to the Lord (Psalm 33), and this class will lean into that biblical command. The High School Band will prepare pieces for concert performances, school events, and community involvement. Participation, preparation, and improvement on an individual basis will be at the core of instruction and evaluation.
