Madison Christian School April 2023 NewsletterTenebrae

To prepare our hearts for Easter, the entire MCS campus is participating in Tenebrae, one of the oldest Christian traditions for commemorating the crucifixion of Christ.

Typically, the Tenebrae (Service of Shadows) was one extended worship service, but we are spreading out the scripture reading and extinguishing of candles over 6 days leading up to our all-school Easter Chapel. As another light is extinguished each day, we ponder the depth of Christ's suffering and death.

  • Day 1 - The Shadow of Betrayal (Mark 14:12-13, 16-24)
  • Day 2 - The Shadow of the Agony of the Spirit & Arrest (Luke 22:39-48, 54)
  • Day 3 - The Shadow of Denial (Luke 22:54-62)
  • Day 4 - The Shadow of Accusation (Mark 15:1-15)
  • Day 5 - The Shadow of Mockery (Matthew 27:27-31)
  • Day 6 - The Shadow of Crucifixion (Luke 23:32-43)
  • Day 7 - The Shadow of Burial (Matthew 27: 57-60)
The All-School Easter Chapel will be Thursday, April 6 at 9 a.m. As with all our chapels, parents you are welcome to attend!

Spiritual Formation

Spiritual Formation

The central theme in the Primary and Elementary chapels is that God desires to establish deep pillars in our hearts that will enable us to grow from the ground up. These pillars are revealed through the Scriptures to the students through the lens of the Resurrection account.

The central theme in the MS and HS chapels centers on the vital things Jesus told His disciples before and after his death on the cross. This resurrection emphasis recalls all the essential things Christ has done for our redemption.
