Eagle Update - September 2022
Madison Christian School September 2022 Newsletter
A Message from the Principal:
Dear MCS Families,
Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! With our largest enrollment ever, we are excited to partner with our MCS families this year and pray that we’ll have many opportunities to interact! We know that there will be challenges throughout the year, but know that God will continue to guide and provide for our MCS Community.
Our program is infused with God’s Word, leading our students to know and love those things that are good, true and beautiful. Learn more about classical Christian education.
This is a journey, and we’re excited to walk along with our students and families as we continue to grow together in love for the Lord and for each other. Knowing that we’ll meet challenges as we navigate the road ahead, we have been led to our annual theme of Prudence. In Proverbs 14:15, God reminds us that the simple believes everything, but the prudent give thought to his steps. We look forward to opportunities this year to both realize this truth individually and as a community!
I would like to let you know about our upcoming Coffee Chat on Friday, September 9. Parents/guardians can stop by the Elementary Conference Room after morning drop-off for a cup of coffee and to connect with school administrators. We plan to continue this monthly.
We pray that our partnership is a mutual blessing this year! Your student and family are loved, and we are grateful that you’ve chosen MCS!
Blessings,
Principal Kim Miller

Student Life
We've had a great start to the school year! The students have been excited to meet their new teachers, reunite with friends, and start creating new friendships.
Kindergarten Cheer-In: The Class of 2035 started their school career at MCS with a Kindergarten Cheer-In! The families were invited to participate in activities with their child such as crafts, games, and photo opportunities. After taking a class picture, all of the kindergarten students lined up and were cheered into the building for their first day of school!
Chapel: High school students experienced their first chapel of the school year on Thursday, August 25 with a prayer chapel. Mr. Harris led the students in praying corporately together, sharing thankfulness with one another, and praying with their teachers. It was a huge blessing to witness the moving of the Holy Spirit among the student body as we prayed together.
Middle school students had their first chapel on August 31, and the primary and elementary grades will be starting chapel the week of September 6. Parents are welcome to attend their child's chapel:
- Primary Chapel (K-2): Tuesdays from 8:30-9:15 a.m., Primary Building Chapel
- Elementary Chapel (3-5): Wednesdays from 9:30-10:15 a.m., MCC Worship Center.
- MS Chapel (6-8): Wednesdays from 8:30-9:15 a.m., MCC Worship Center
- HS Chapel (9-12): Thursdays from 8:20-9:14 a.m., MCC Worship Center
Picture Days: Students should wear their regular uniforms for pictures.
- HS, MS, & 3-Day Preschool: Wednesday, September 14

Christian College Fair: Juniors and seniors will visit a Christian College Fair held at Grove City Christian School the morning of Tuesday, September 20. Watch your email for more information and permission slips in mid-September.
Senior Breakfast: Save the date to celebrate this senior milestone on October 12. A senior student/parent meeting will take place immediately after breakfast, which will include a presentation from Josten's. More info to come.
Testing for Grades 9-11: Students will participate in the following standardized tests on October 12. Grade 9: Pre-ACT 8/9, Grade 10: Pre-ACT, Grade 11: PSAT. Students will receive information applicable to their specific test during homeroom visits from Mrs. Ladd in September. Information is also available online, which may include practice questions/tests.
Service Hours: It's never too early to begin serving others! Yearly service hour requirements are Grades 7-9: 10 hours, Grade 10: 20 hours, Grade 11: 30 hours, and Grade 12: 40 hours. Hours should be logged using documentation sheets located in the hallway across from the HS office. It is encouraged your child turns in service logs to their Bible teacher at the end of each 9-week grading period. This enables their progress toward the yearly requirement to be viewed on each report card throughout the year! Please refer to the MCS Parent/Student Handbook for more details.
FAFSA 2023: Application window for the 2023-24 school year opens on October 1. Visit studentaid.gov to learn more.
ACT/SAT: Students interested in taking these tests should visit ACT.org or SAT.org for test dates, registration, and practice opportunities.
Senior/Juniors: Stay active in college and scholarship searches. Create spreadsheets to help you organize information regarding deadlines, application requirements, and notes. Please schedule an appointment with Mrs. Ladd if you have questions or need assistance.
College/University Application Window: Colleges and universities began accepting applications for the 2023-24 school year on August 1. Seniors should keep a spreadsheet of application requirements for each school. Please see Mrs. Ladd if you have any questions about the application process.
